Sony DEV-5s: We've seen the future and it looks like it's going to be in 3D

Yet who could have predicted that one day thered be binoculars for making 3D movies?

Reminding us a little of the sinister proto-robots in Terminator 3, Sonys DEV-5s work like conventional bins: scan the horizon at low magnification to spot your quarry, then zoom in at up to 20x (10x optical).

The design is described as 'stealth' - meaning there are no distracting buttons or flashing lights that could give your position away

Autofocus keeps the image clear; image stabilisation negates trembles. But whats different with these is that you can take the images you see home with you.

The DEV-5s capture 2D 7.1MP stills and Full HD video and if you press the magic 3D button theyll record footage that leaps out at you on a 3D TV (though bear in mind that in 3D the zoom is only 5.4x).

Plenty of other features are packed in too, including GPS for geotagging, and th! e batter y can handle over two hours of 3D filming.

Any drawbacks? Theyre 2,605, but you could see that a mile off, couldnt you?

China to make Tesla the next BMW

Tesla's China business is booming Hong-Kong traded Tencent, a company best known for its WeChat messaging app, disclosed in a Tuesday filing that it's  taken a 5 percent stake in Tesla for $1.78 billion.  The investment follows Tencent's new stake in taxi-hailing app Didi Chuxing, which can be accessed through WeChat. "I think Tencent likely wanted exposure to a company that was growing very quickly in electric and autonomous" vehicles, said Tasha Keeney, an analyst on the  ARK Industrial Innovation ETF (ARKQ) , whose top holding is Tesla. "We think the autonomous mobility as a service market could be $10 trillion in gross sales globally by the early 2030s, and companies like Tesla or  Baidu  could take a cut of that," she said.
