Foxconn-owned Cybermart to sell Apple gear in China

The only thing we really know about Chinese electronics retailer Cybermart in the Western hemisphere is that tourists often enjoy stopping by one of its locations and snapping pictures of fake iPhones which of course is ironic, considering the chain is owned by infamous iPhone builder Foxconn. All that may soon change, however, as DigiTimes reports that the Chinese gear vendor has scored distribution rights for authentic Apple products. The retailer supposedly has plans to open 500 Apple-licensed retail locations throughout China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the first of which will open its doors on April 1st. Cybermart also currently has 34 electronics outlets spread around China, and it plans to open seven or eight more this year.

China to make Tesla the next BMW

Tesla's China business is booming Hong-Kong traded Tencent, a company best known for its WeChat messaging app, disclosed in a Tuesday filing that it's  taken a 5 percent stake in Tesla for $1.78 billion.  The investment follows Tencent's new stake in taxi-hailing app Didi Chuxing, which can be accessed through WeChat. "I think Tencent likely wanted exposure to a company that was growing very quickly in electric and autonomous" vehicles, said Tasha Keeney, an analyst on the  ARK Industrial Innovation ETF (ARKQ) , whose top holding is Tesla. "We think the autonomous mobility as a service market could be $10 trillion in gross sales globally by the early 2030s, and companies like Tesla or  Baidu  could take a cut of that," she said. China Has 110 Million 3G Mobile Users

According to statistics provided by the three major Chinese telecom operators China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, the number of 3G users largely increased in November 2011, reaching a total of 110 million. China Unicom reported that the number of its newly increased 3G users was over three million for the first time in November 2011, which was also a new height since June this year. During November 2011, China Unicom's 2G users increased by 214,000 to a total of 159.439 million; while its 3G users increased by 3.384 million to 36.534 million. Meanwhile, China Unicom's newly increased 3G users in 2011 have reached 22.474 million. In addition, China Unicom previously announced its terminal strategy for 2012, stating that it will focus on the sales of phones with the prices between CNY1,000 and CNY2,000.
