T-Mobile Sidekick 4G images uncovered

Following T-Mobiles confirmation last week that it would soon launch an HSPA+ compatible Sidekick sequel, leaked images of the Sidekick 4G have been revealed. Enthusiast blog TmoNews published the images on Thursday along with some preliminary details. The T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is manufactured by Samsung, and the device pictured is said to be running a customized version of Android 2.2.1. It is unclear if this is a final build for the phone or if it will launch with a newer version of the Android operating system. From the image above, it appears as though the display will feature a sliding mechanism that opens at a forward angle like the Nokia N97, or allows the display angle to be adjusted like the HTC Touch Pro2. LTE gets faster. Much faster.

Ericsson, one of the biggest proponents of mobile broadband in general, and LTE in particular has demoed a new variant of the technology called LTE Advanced which is ten times faster than todays commercial LTE networks. Ericsson, showed off LTE Advanced using commercial hardware in Kista Sweden for the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS.) The system, based on commercial hardware, was operating on a test frequency provided by the PTS. This enabled Ericsson to demonstrate LTE Advanced functionality such as carrier aggregation of 3 x 20MHz (60MHz aggregated) over the air in a mobile environment for the first time. The demo system was based on Ericssons multi-mode, multi-standard radio base station, RBS 6000. Live traffic was streamed between the RBS and a moving van from which network performance could be monitored.
