Kleiner Perkins Partner Ray Lane received the worlds second production Fisker Karma, a luxury extended-range electric car. Rumor has it that actor Leonardo DiCaprio received the first. The $100,000 car was shown off outside of the Kleiner Perkins office on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, Calif. on Tuesday, where media folks watched the event. Kleiner Perkins is an investor in Fisker.     China Has 110 Million 3G Mobile Users

    According to statistics provided by the three major Chinese telecom operators China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, the number of 3G users largely increased in November 2011, reaching a total of 110 million. China Unicom reported that the number of its newly increased 3G users was over three million for the first time in November 2011, which was also a new height since June this year. During November 2011, China Unicom's 2G users increased by 214,000 to a total of 159.439 million; while its 3G users increased by 3.384 million to 36.534 million. Meanwhile, China Unicom's newly increased 3G users in 2011 have reached 22.474 million. In addition, China Unicom previously announced its terminal strategy for 2012, stating that it will focus on the sales of phones with the prices between CNY1,000 and CNY2,000.     LTE gets faster. Much faster.

    Ericsson, one of the biggest proponents of mobile broadband in general, and LTE in particular has demoed a new variant of the technology called LTE Advanced which is ten times faster than todays commercial LTE networks. Ericsson, showed off LTE Advanced using commercial hardware in Kista Sweden for the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS.) The system, based on commercial hardware, was operating on a test frequency provided by the PTS. This enabled Ericsson to demonstrate LTE Advanced functionality such as carrier aggregation of 3 x 20MHz (60MHz aggregated) over the air in a mobile environment for the first time. The demo system was based on Ericssons multi-mode, multi-standard radio base station, RBS 6000. Live traffic was streamed between the RBS and a moving van from which network performance could be monitored.
