China Daily reported today that Police in Shanghai have arrested 5 suspects for manufacturing counterfeit iPhones.

Craftily, the suspects scavenged through e-waste transported from South Chinas Guangdong province and found genuine components from discarded real iPhones and combined them with fake components to create the counterfeit version. Thats why they look so real!

Over200fakeiPhonesand5,000accessoriesatavalueof 5 million rmb ($781,630)were seized from a rented apartment in Shanghai.

The police raids come in response to a city wide campaign to stop counterfeit products and even ridiculous fake Apple stores popping up around the country.
